You are FIVE MONTHS OLD today! This has been such a busy month for you! You have your own mind now, and are not afraid to let us know it. I have a feeling you will be quite the bundle of emotions and possibly a bit of a drama queen (and yes, you get those qualities from your mom). When you snuggle, you snuggle with everything you’ve got. When you cry, you really let it out (but usually it’s short lived, thank goodness). When you want to tell a story, you make sure you are the loudest and most animated person in the room (even when no one can understand your baby talk). Your smiles are completely infectious and your laugh makes me act all sorts of weird and crazy just to hear it again. I love you with everything I’ve got, and being your mom is the best job in the world. I can’t wait to see what the next month brings!
Things about YOU:
- - You are all over the place when it comes to sizes. You can still fit into 0-3 shirts. Usually 3-6 onesies. 3-6 shorts are still a little big on you. BUT, you are a solid 12 months in one piece bathing suits. You can do 9 months in 2 pieces, but I didn’t figure that out until I got you a 12 month one and it has saggy bottom. You’ll fit into it eventually. GAP is still your brand of choice.
- - You are still in size 2 diapers and will probably stay in them for a while longer.
- - You were 13 pounds 3 ounces at your last appointment. Still a little peanut, but growing more and more every day!
- - Still no teeth, but I can see where the bottom ones are pushing. You put everything in your mouth as soon as you get your hands on it. Your bite is really strong too!
- - You laugh the most at Stella. You think it’s hilarious when she barks or runs or licks your hands. Which is not allowed. But sometimes I let her just to see you laugh about it. And then I wipe your hands off. Ew.
- - You have officially rolled over twice. Belly to back. You just have zero interest in it.
- - You do push yourself up on your arms when you’re on your belly. And you kick your legs too. So close to crawling, yet you don’t quite have the synchronization down. I’m ok with you waiting a while for that milestone.
- - The big development of the month…you sit up all by yourself! And you want to sit up all the time. It’s as if the whole world has opened up before your eyes. You look like such a big girl now, sitting and playing with your toys.
- - You have found your feet and will never let them go. You love to suck on your toes, but sometimes I’ll see you just lying there holding both of your feet. I think it might be comforting.
- - You sleep through the night consistently now. And I’m sure, now that I’ve written it down, you will wake up five times tonight.
- - When you get fussy we call you Gus. As in “Fussy Gus”. We’ve actually been doing this since you were born. It was probably the result of delirious sleep-deprived parents trying to keep their sense of humor.
- - You have a lot of toys you love, but the one that makes you happy when you’re about to have a meltdown is your flower Pepe. He’s Mexican and bi-lingual. I will have a separate post all about the creation of Pepe.
- - The weekends are our favorite time as a family. You wake up at your normal time (7 am) which is WAY too early for the weekend. So I feed you in bed and then put you between me and daddy and we sleep in as long as we want. You don’t like it when daddy is sleeping and you’re awake so you’ll pat him on the back or poke him in the eye to wake him up.
- - You still suck your thumb, but only when you’re sleepy or trying to go to sleep.
- - You love cups. You try to take mine out of my hand whenever I have one. I let you pretend to drink out of your cup in the bath. Stop trying to be such a big girl!
- - You stick your tongue out now. It is soooo adorable! I know I’ll have to teach you better eventually, but right now I just stick mine out right back at you.
- - You are still very picky about nursing. No one is allowed to speak AT ALL. I think you’re afraid you’re missing something when you hear noises, so you stop and sit up to look around. And I definitely get the evil eye if I try to eat something.
- - You love grabbing your Nana’s nose. And you try to bite her elbow when she changes you.
- - We have dubbed your bouncy chair as “the magic chair” because every time we put you in it you poop. Sometimes all over the chair. I’m not sure if it’s the vibrations, or if it’s just the time of day you usually sit in it, but it truly is magical.
- - You wear big girl pjs now. You were getting too long for all of your one pieces.
- - You went to Sunday school for the first time last week. You LOVED it. I stayed in the room, because I knew you would be sad and scared and want your mommy. Yeah right. You didn’t miss a beat. You were smiling and laughing at the teacher and taking it all in with those huge blue eyes. I guess I’ll just drop you off next week :-(
- - You ride in your big girl stroller when we go on walks.
- - You’ve been to the beach several times now, and you like it as long as you don’t get too hot. It will be better when we can get you in the water!
- - We’re taking you to the pool for the first time this week. I hope you like it!
We love you so much little Peanut, and you make our lives so exciting! We love being your parents and hope you love being our daughter. xoxo
